MATERNAL GRANDFATHER EFFECT IN HORSES SPC
As we see 'm highlighting maternal grandparents since they transmit their chromosome x 100% of their daughters. The most interesting thing about farming is that the X chromosome is not mentioned by the male transmitted to any male child . Since the Y chromosome parent places the child and the mother male X chromosome
For females it receives an X chromosome , as we saw, the father and the other X chromosome , which receives , from the mother. Recall that related to sex chromosomes are XX in females and XY in males.
In the case of females one of its chromosomes remains as dominant , the other as recessive , and can either transmit in a 50% chance , a male or female child . In the case of the single male X chromosome is active and transmits it to 100 % , as I said, of his daughters females and males none of his children ( by which they transmitted the Y chromosome) . For this reason it is said that the male who determines the sex of the offspring .
From the above it is observed that a certain male horse has a 50 % chance to receive their X chromosome from his maternal grandfather and 50 % chance of his maternal grandmother. The latter mare ( male Product maternal grandmother ) receives an X chromosome from his father ( male Product maternal grandfather ) and one from their mother ( maternal grandmother male product ) and so on . I only mention this because the maternal grandparents also have many chances of their X chromosomes reach the final product , in this example a male .
The X chromosome has a lot more genetic information as the Y. More or less recent studies confirmed ( as suspected ) that the X chromosome has to do with athletic ability and quality of horses.
This all started when the autopsies were great champions of the likes of Eclipse ( 1764 ) , Secretariat (1970 ) or Phar Lap ( 1926 ) . All of them had a heart well above normal. The average heart weight SPC ( PSI ) is 3.8 kg and respectively the hearts of the above cited weighed : 5.8 kgs, 9,988 kgs and 6.3 kgs. The Australians and motivated by their champion Phar Lap were pioneers in this research and found that the transmission was large heart X-linked
I is pending for the next delivery refer to large sports and maternal grandparents stallions that are likely to lead Arab horse X chromosomes , Anglo Arab or Trakheners and refer briefly to the genetic influence of parents , inbreeding , etc. to this give way , due to the influence of the X chromosome
The intent of this article is to show the importance of the X chromosome genetic influence in sport horses . I referred only to the maternal grandparents if we extended this to the maternal grandmothers ( with the influence of the parents of these) , we have many more examples , perhaps the most fashionable nowadays to be " Guidam " .
Empirical Scheme Bruce Lowe
The explanation of the empirical success of Bruce Lowe , who produced excellent results in the breeding and racing horses getting late nineteenth century , are:
1 - What happens is that breeders of race horses and often all kinds of breeders campus forget the mares . They think that to get a good sire everything is solved. If also uses making a generational inbreeding 3 and 4 , ie in the pedigree, the paternal grandfather and maternal grandfather is the same stallion , with his daughters , two half sisters , produce according to the table memorization Felch true empiricism , the foal 37.50% is obtained (25% + 12.5%) of selected protruding stud blood . We clarify that according to this table with some approximation and not talking about genes that a child inherits 50% of the blood from each parent and 25% from each grandparent and so on.
Inbreeding is more successful than was obtained in racehorses , because if it becomes narrower shown the negative effects of inbreeding depression , with consequent loss of vigor .
Whereas there 3-4 inbreeding blood cooling across the same male with different females , but with the half-sisters resulting product thereof , are likely to provide significant stallion's genetic background selected by the resulting foal's mother and paternal grandmother .
2 - The importance of breeding females is due to the following factors:
a) Only females inherit the outstanding male X chromosome . The only son And practically carries few genes . So the male children is lost entire chromosome ! That is why they lose all parental lines in each generation worse .
Take the case of our great stallion Congreve , who follows in his great son Bewitched , but dies inexorably in its latest generation descendant and representative Uranus. Instead Bellotte produced her daughter , with the famous Sind Scholar , twice winner of the Gr Pr C. Pellegrini , winning even the Great Penny Post, in it. This line is still in vigencia.b maternal ) heritability addition quantitative factors or product acciónpoligénica generally have higher heritability in females than in males .
c ) Because the stamp that prints the puppies mother , behavioral factors must be evaluated primarily on the mother .
For some large breeders, when they go to a stud farm primarily interested females assess therein. The English say rightly that the best female in her kennel is better than the best female you can buy outside. Nobody sells their best females . But a good male for breeding can always acquire either by a son , service or semen.
Even the big breeders are always looking at the pedigrees of Haras successful female female founder and continuity in their pedigrees .
For something as Arabs made his famous horse race with the seven maternal lines , which still persist ! .
Synthesizing regarding Löwe scheme we can say that the good stallions spend their good qualities logically through their daughters , since their children are less likely to inherit the entire genetic background of the father, while their grandchildren through their daughters , have greater possibility. -
